West Hollywood is a trendy area known for its high-energy nightlife. The infamous Sunset Strip features the Chateau Marmont, a swanky celebrity hideaway, plus comedy clubs and live music venues like the legendary Whiskey a Go Go. Santa Monica Boulevard, awash in rainbow flags, is home to a number of gay bars, dance clubs and shops. WeHo also offers some of the city’s most buzzworthy restaurants.

SCHOOL DISTRICT

West Hollywood is a city located in the Central LA region of Los Angeles County and neighbors areas such as Beverly Grove, Beverly Hills, and Hollywood. It contains highly ranked schools a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, such as Hawthorne Elementary, Larchmont Charter- West Hollywood, and West Hollywood Elementary.

COMMUNITY & CRIME REPORT
According to the LA Times Neighborhood Crime Maps, West Hollywood is ranked 58 out of 209 for most violent crimes per 10,000 people and 48 out of 209 for most property crimes. These rankings are lower than neighboring areas in LA county and mostly consist of theft and burglary.

SHOPPING
Melrose Ave Shopping District is one of the most popular retail strips in the city. Home to the infamous Pink Wall, Melrose has a diversity in shops from American Vintage, a popular thrift store, to high end stores on Melrose Place like Chloe, Golden Goose, Zimmermann, and Isabel Marant. If you’re looking for a mall, the Beverly Center is located on La Cienega and Beverly Blvd and houses stores like Bloomingdale’s, Balenciaga, Macy’s and Uniqlo. 

RESTAURANTS
West Hollywood is packed with popular restaurants––anything from casual to fine dining. Joan’s On Third and Kreation Organic Cafe are located on 3rd Street and are great options if you want an easy, gourmet lunch with open patio seating. If you want something a little more upscale, Catch LA is a popular, celeb-sighting restaurant with rooftop seating that offers family-style dishes like sushi, wagyu steak, and shrimp tempura. 

GROCERY STORES
Located by the Beverly Grove, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and Erewhon are popular organic and eco-friendly grocery stores. Erewhon is especially more high-end and offers local products and a note-worthy hot foods bar that is always busy. If you’re looking for a more basic grocery store, Pavilions and Ralphs are located near Santa Monica Blvd and offer anything you could need from fresh produce to deli selections. 

GYMS & ACTIVITIES
From fitness classes to gyms, West Hollywood has any workout class you would need to stay in shape. SoulCycle, CycleBar, and Cycle House are all indoor cycling studios located not far from each other and offer high intensity classes. If you’re looking for low intensity cardio, Y7 is a hot yoga studio with great music and nice showers that is popular amongst LA millennials. If you’re looking for a gym, Equinox is located in the Sunset Plaza and offers high-intensity classes, professional trainers, and a full-service locker room.

LANDMARKS & ATTRACTIONS
While walking down Melrose Avenue, you may see The Comedy Store, which is an iconic standup comedy venue. Considering West Hollywood is known for its entertainment, it’s always fun to come see a show here and get a taste of the local LA culture. Seeing museums is another fun way to spend an afternoon walking around LA. The LACMA is a popular modern art museum located by the Beverly Grove and is known for its urban light installation.
