Located between Glendale and North Hollywood in the San Fernando Valley, Burbank is known for being the “Media Capital of the World” as it is home to Warner Bros Entertainment, The Walt Disney Company, and Nickelodeon Animation Studios.
SCHOOL DISTRICT
Burbank is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles and neighbors areas such as Glendale, Griffith Park, Hollywood Hills and Toluca Lake. Burbank is a part of the Burbank Unified School District. According to the district website, the school district is “one of the most high-achieving, competitive school districts in the Los Angeles area, with an Academic Performance Index (API) score continuously well above county and state averages”.

According to the 2018 FBI Report, Burbank crime rates are 5 percent higher than the national average, however violent crime rates are 43 percent lower than the average.

Burbank is home to shopping centers Burbank Town Center and Lakeside Shopping Center––both offering retail for food and fashion. The Burbank Town Center is a large, open-air shopping mall with three levels of retail stores like Macy’s, H&M, and Sears. Burbank Town Center is located on East Magnolia Blvd and is home to retail stores Macy’s, Burlington, and Office Depot, and has food options like In-N-Out Burger and Panini Kabob Grill. Lakeside Shopping Center has less retail options, but more food options like Starbucks and a Vons for grocery shopping.

Burbank is known for its delicious local restaurants. For a morning refreshment, Priscilla’s Coffee Tea & Gifts, Simply Coffee and Boutique, and Geeky Teas are all family-owned and operated coffee shops. For dessert, Porto’s Bakery & Cafe, Quenella, and Yummy Cupcakes will satisfy your sugar cravings. Morton’s and The Green Room are both fine-dining options for any special occasion. For a more affordable meal, Bob’s Big Boy Burbank is a classic American Diner that is considered a Burbank classic. Tony’s Darts Away, Story Tavern, and Timmy Nolan’s Tavern and Grill are tavern favorites that serve good quality food and drinks late into the night. Chili’s Johns is another local hot spot on Burbank Blvd that is a Tex-Mex diner. Known for its spicy chili and beans, this place is always crowded with the locals.

Located in the Lakeside Shopping Center, Vons is the most mainstream grocery store and has everything you need from fresh produce to household items to a deli selection. If you’re looking for an organic grocery store, Sprouts Farmers Market is located on N San Fernando Blvd and is a specialty chain known for its natural grocery items. For those with dietary concerns, Whole Foods and Sprout’s Farmer Markets supplies paleo-friendly, vegan, and vegetarian products with local, organic, and non-GMO choices.
